Paint & Polish
Our Process
1. Preparation and Planning
Assess the Project
Note down the scope of the painting job, which includes number of rooms, doors, windows or exterior areas to be painted
Gather Materials and Tools
Paint, primer, brushes, rollers, painter's tape, drop cloths, sandpaper, and ladders. Cleaning supplies, caulk, and patching compounds for surface repairs.
Prepare the Area
Move furniture and cover flooring with drop cloths or plastic sheeting. Remove or cover hardware, light fixtures, and any items that could be damaged by paint.
2. Surface Preparation
Repair and Patch
Fill any holes, cracks, or dents with Putty or joint compound. Allow it to dry, then sand smooth. For exteriors: Scrape off loose paint and repair any damaged siding or trim.
Sand and Smooth
Lightly sand walls or surfaces to create a smooth, even texture for better paint adhesion. For exteriors: Sand any rough spots or areas where paint has peeled.
Apply Primer
Apply a primer coat to enhance paint adhesion and coverage. This is especially important for new drywall, repaired areas, or when changing from a dark to a light color.
3. Painting
Tape and Protect
Use painter’s tape to mask off trim, windows, and edges for clean lines. Cover any areas that you don’t want to paint with drop cloths or plastic sheeting.
Roller or Brush Paint
Use a roller or brush to apply the paint to the large surfaces. Start with one section at a time and work in manageable areas. Apply paint in a consistent direction and maintain a wet edge to avoid lap marks.
Apply Additional Coats
Allow the first coat to dry completely before applying additional coats. Most projects require at least two coats for even coverage and durability.
4. Finishing Touches
Remove Painter’s Tape
Carefully remove painter’s tape while the paint is still slightly damp to ensure clean lines and prevent peeling.
Touch Up
Inspect the painted areas for any missed spots or imperfections. Use a brush to touch up any areas that need additional coverage
Clean Up
Clean brushes, rollers, and other tools according to paint manufacturer instructions. Dispose of any used materials properly and clean the work area.
